If you are new to online craps you may be tempted to go for the bets that are simple to understand or bets that have fancy names. You would be erring in placing either of these bets. Because the house edge for these bets would in all probability be so high as to make them unviable. If you want to succeed in online craps then make the Pass Line your staple bet. It has the lowest house edge of all craps bets. This article explains the nuances of the Pass Line multi-roll bet and you can always play craps in the demo mode for free at Australian online casinos till you are comfortable with it.

An important term in online craps is the come out roll. This is the first roll of a new session. The Pass Line bet has to be placed on the screen layout before the come out roll. The bet will win if the come out roll is 7 or 11 and will lose if the come out roll is 2, 3 or 12. If the come out roll shows any other number then that number is marked as the point. The online craps dice are repeatedly rolled till one of the following events takes place. If the point is rolled again before 7 then the Pass Line bet wins. If 7 is rolled before the point then the Pass Line bet loses. You will be paid even money if the bet wins. The house edge is 1.4%, but can be reduced further by following the procedure described below.

This is known as free odds and comes into play after the Pass Line bet has been placed and the point has been established. You have to place the free odds bet immediately after the point is established. Online craps variants usually offer two types of free odds bets. The single free odds bet limits the additional wager to the original bet. The double free odds bet limits the additional wager to twice the original bet. The Pass Line bet wins or loses as described earlier, but the payout for the free odds component of the bet is different. The payout depends on the point established but it is at mathematically correct odds without any house edge. Therefore, the house edge of the combined bet is reduced to 0.8% for the single free odds bet and to 0.6% for the double free odds bet.
