The more games that a player knows, the more options he or she will have when it's time to play. Having more options means that you'll be more likely to take advantage of big promotions, casino tournaments or other events. It also means that you'll be more likely to be able to pick your spots in terms of the house advantage while increasing your chances of booking winning sessions. Baccarat is a classic game that has been played for a very long time. Unlike blackjack or video poker, the correct strategy in Baccarat is easy to learn. However, before you can learn the right strategies in this game, you have to learn how the game is played.

Baccarat is played with a shoe of cards in a way that's similar to blackjack. The cards have different values according to their numbers. The cards two through nine are worth their face values; tens, jacks, queens and kings have a value of zero. Aces are worth one. In Baccarat, nobody can go bust: Your hand's value is the units digit of your total. For example, if a hand has a total of 13, then its score is just three.

Players don't play individual hands in this game. Instead, there are two hands dealt out on the table that play by different sets of rules. One hand is called the player hand, and the other is called the banker hand. Players can bet on either hand or a tie at the beginning of play. Once the bets are in, two cards are dealt to each hand. If either hand is dealt a total of eight or nine, then no more cards are dealt, and the hand with the highest total wins. Otherwise, the player's hand sees action first. With totals of five or lower, the player will receive a single extra card. If the player stands instead, the banker will hit once with totals of five or lower.

However, if the player hits, then the banker hits under a complicated set of rules that the house must follow. The rules are based on the banker's starting score and the value of the player hand's extra card. However, it mostly sees the banker's hand getting an extra card about half the time. What you need to know when playing Baccarat as far as strategy is that bets on the banker and player hands both have about the same house advantage in the neighborhood of 1.25 to 1.5 percent. However, betting on a tie has a much larger house advantage, so you should never make that bet.
